Christmas is one of them. December 25th, every year, without fail.
Thanksgiving’s another. Fourth Thursday of November. Every year.
And don’t even mention New Year’s Day. Goes without saying.
I’m speaking, of course, about common holidays. Average, everyday, run-of-the-mill, commonplace holidays. They happen every year. How boring. How common. How trivial.
Today, however, is different.
Today is a holiday that only happens nine times every century. Now that’s special.
The holiday, you ask? Why, it’s Square Root Day! 3/3/09!
(For those of you that are math-challenged, 3 x 3 = 9. So the other days that qualify are 1/1/01, 2/2/04, etc.)
How do we celebrate? I’m not sure. Maybe everyone should hug a nerd.
