I have news.
It’s not big news, I suppose, unless you happen to be me, in which case it’s pretty significant. I happen to know that you’re not me, so I suppose it won’t really matter much to you, but still…
Anyway: I’m going back to school.
Yup. This fall, yours truly will be entering the electrical engineering degree program at Portland State University.
I’m going to be concentrating on robotics. I think it’ll be a good way to get started on my robot army to enable me to take over the world.
Actually, I’m planning to design and build the ROVs that researchers use for exploration of the deep oceans. Although if I could work on the probes for NASA like the one that may go to Europa someday, that’d be totally cool, too.
So that’s my news. Don’t worry – the blog won’t be going anywhere, so my few Cheetah fans will still get updates. No changes, except I may add a “Buy me a cup of coffee” button on the sidebar, since I’ll be a poor college student again.
Wish me luck!
And I hope you all got the Don Henley reference from the post title. If not, I’m very disappointed in you.

That’s a great idea! I’ll certainly wish you luck: I know it will be a great move for you and you’ll make it work!

Thanks, Montucky! It’s going to be a lot of work, but it’ll be worth it when I’m done.

I’m going to have a dim moment here. The Don Henley reference, I get. However, the relevance is lost on me. I have thought long and hard (for nearly a minute - or at least it felt like a minute but it might have been more like ten seconds), I have even Googled the lyrics to see if I can squeeze meaning from them but am left unsatisfied and, frankly, exhausted. Is it this?
Kick em when theyre up
Kick em when theyre down
Kick em when theyre stiff
Kick em all around
or am I just trying to glean too much intellectual satisfaction from this blog?
Good luck with your return to the groves of academe (I’m sorry, I know that is an unforgivably pompous turn of phrase but sometimes it is good for the soul to behave as if one wears a lorgnette).

Wolf, I think it’s high time for action - the world can only wait so long for your army, and there’s a big void that needs to be filled…

Good for you.
When you do get that robot army of doom up and running, be sure to remember those of us who sucked up early on…

James: you’re just overthinking it. The reference is that the song talks about The News, and I have news. That’s it. Weak, I know. I suppose “Kick ‘em when they’re stiff” might also apply, however, since we’re talking robots.

Heidi: glad to see that I’m not the only one who recognizes the void.

SinisterDan: in order for you to receive your due recognition, I’m going to need your full name, address, and primary bank account number.

Congratulations. And I’ve always got a pot of coffee going if you need a cup.

Ah college. Yes, there is that poverty thing, but there’s also sleeping late, skipping classes, staying up late, skipping classes. You sound a bit more ambitious than I was, though, which likely explains why the only oceanic rover I would be able to build would be made of legos and hardly able to withstand deep-sea pressure.
Good luck. Do you anticipate a final showdown for global supremacy between your robot army and the government’s secret flying monkey army?

Pinhole: thanks. I might take you up on that coffee.

BAiFP: I’m afraid the government is way ahead of me. The best I can hope for is to hold the ground they haven’t yet managed to take.
