ASIM turned it down. Didn’t take long, did it?
On the positive side, however, the readers did have some critiques for me, so I can decide whether to fix the problems (some of them were just embarrassingly obvious) or to just trash the story and take up banking.

For a true masochist, banking probably leaves something to be desired. Misery loves company, so I would suggest you keep writing.
By the way, how do I subscribe to this blog? Is it so obvious I’m looking right past it, or have I been black-balled?

That’s funny - I hadn’t thought of the “misery loves company” angle.
The easiest way to subscribe (actually, the only way I know) is to click on the “Entries (RSS)” link on the lower left of the page, and subscribe using whichever reader you’re used to using. I like Google reader, myself.
And no, you haven’t been blackballed.
And thanks for the encouragement. Banking? What the hell was I thinking?

Sorry for the rejection, but kudos on passing the first rung and getting helpful critiques, and getting it so quickly.
I was reading 101 reasons, but recently stopped- may have to pick it up again. Never got around to checking out ASIM either, though I meant to.
Did you see Simon’s writing articles yet?

That’s bad news but good news too. If there were problems they can be fixed and you had a great chance to learn something. I’d take that any day. You do some really good stuff and it’s just a matter of time and patience getting published.

wordvixen: yeah, 101 reasons is definitely a good read. And ASIM is worth the 4.95 for a copy, should you want to download an issue. I just started perusing Simon’s writing articles earlier today, and I can see they’re going to be a lot of help.
montucky: I did learn some things, so it was a good experience. Just feeling a bit discouraged today, I guess. I’m glad you like my stuff, and thanks for the encouragement.
